The End of an Era.

OK. My positive thoughts on Norv Tuner and The Chargers have run out.

Just like the Broncos running away from the Chargers in this photo, so it is true for the two teams futures. Broncos UP. Chargers Down.

I think everyone now can agree the team is talented but that it has not been coached properly. Next year (or even maybe tomorrow) the team will look very different than it does today.

No more all talk Merriman and LT will surely retire or be traded or even released. Its possible both of them could be traded before Tuesday. Its too bad both players are not performing well this season and the once coveted Merriman probably wont be worth half what he was during the off season.

We got to see the Chargers go from the Team that couldnt win in the playoffs to the team that cant win in the regular season either.

AJ has to realize his folly in picking Norv Turner to run the Chargers. Who will he turn to next year? Jon Gruden? Bill Cowher? Or better yet..... Why should he wait until the season is over?

Lets hope he doesnt wait.

No Picks

Im afraid to post my pick because every time I pick the Chargers they lose.

So. Im not going to give my prediction for today's game.

But it DOES look like Denver is actually a very strong team.
And WHO SAYS COACHES DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

but streaks are meant to end at some point. Hopefully, it is today.

Chargers Training Camp at Stingaree 2009

Above is a picture of Shawne Merriman and Tila Ti-Troll at Stingaree in downtown SD.

Now, I know WHY they like to go there and party. Its a great club as far as clubs go (Hi Camel Dave and James B!). But, maybe if your a professional athelete you dont have to party during your season. Or at least cut it down to a few beers at another players house and just skip to the 4-some.

I mean I have trouble drinking and then making it through a martial arts class for an hour or two much less hitting the town then expected to play in the NFL on Sunday. Its got to hurt your play. Its only common sense.

Can Norv really be the ONLY reason the Chargers have looked like hell for 75% of the last 2 seasons and this year? Maybe just maybe the Chargers are too undisciplined to handle the extra-curricular activites? In any other lineof work they would probably say. Grow up. Stop going out and hit the books, work harder etc...... is pro-football any different?

But then again I guess lack of discipline comes from the top of the organization and thus from Norv. I mean the guy basically blew off the loss in the post game interview and said the Chargers lost because the Steelers had lost 2 games and were very prepared to win. Really? Dude. Come on.

Ohh Jeez

Oh Jeez. :(
Really? 28-0 at halftime? Mt. Helix High's defense could have held off the Steelers better.

Right Now Norv is doing an interview and try to use the excuse that Pittsburgh had a tough couple of weeks and came out to win. As opposed to NOT trying to win? As the Chargers were obviously doing in the first half.

At least they fought back. But SLOW STARTS for seasons AND Games are Norv Turners Hallmark. Marty won games but lost playoff games. Norv just loses games period.

Imagine if the Chargers had a mediocre talented team. Or we didn't have Rivers. The Chargers Might then be the worst team in the NFL along with the Raiders. Think about that.

Ben likes California Girls

Well Well Well. The good ol' Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Charges win some and lose some to the Steelers. Lately in and around playoff time we have lost to them.

On an even playing field with no injuries I would say this is a very close game. But with injuries on both teams and the Chargers offensive and defense lines decimated, an unproductive and , now often injured LT, I see this as a very challenging game in Pitt.

I tried to do a search to see what Pittsburgh was famous for besides coal, unemployment and ketchup. (As me and Mrs. FireNorv like to plan our football meal around the team the Chargers are playing). It turns out the women are competitively large even coming close to Alabama and the infamous Wisconsin and Iowa women.

This probably explains why Big Ben likes to head on out to Lake Tahoe, CA and 'grab some chicks'. (Perhaps, literally. Allegedly.)

Anyway... so back to football.
Chargers injured. Pittsburgh has their best defensive player injured. Pittsburgh has been playing poorly and on a 2 game losing streak. The Chargers on the other hand have been performing poorly as expected and on track to have a weak opening half of the year as usual under Norv Turner.

BUT I think the Chargers should win this game. Too much offense for Big P. Just enough Defense to handle Big Ben and a string of injured RB's.

My prediction: Steelers still have a super SuperBowl hangover and lose.

Chargers 27
Steelers 24
