Opps! HI Power Rankings!

Dude I totally saw Norv yell Mother F*cker on the sidelines at the Dallas game.

Well, my mother always said if you cant say something nice don't say it at all. In this blogs case if I cant say something negative I guess I shouldn't say it.

I know. That sounds so MEAN SPIRITED you say. Well, this IS a blog trying to get someone fired. But that SOMEONE has a team poised to grab the #2 seed in the AFC if they can beat the Bungles. So I kept my trap shut. That and I found out from my wife (about the same time LT did) that I TOO was possibly going to be a father.

SO back to business people! Seems to be a large amount of traffic coming from a mention of us from some national power rankings. (Thanks for the extra $2.78 from google adwords!) Firenorv's #1 fan Morgino let me know that I should maybe update the blog.

Rumor has it Norv is getting a 6 year extension. Wow. 6 years? For winning one more Playoff game than the last guy who got fired for going 14-2?

I NEED to work for the Chargers. Maybe if I work through lunch 1 day a week ill get a 100k bonus at Christmas. But apparently like most jobs where you get to hang out or meet celebrities the pay sucks. (I'm talking to you UT reporters that still have jobs, concert promoters and porn star fluffers.)

***Bonus Points Question: Guess which two of those jobs I never had or at least never claimed to have held?

A: I have an edit function and spell check on this blog so you know its not writing for the San Diego Union Tribune. They fire all the editors over there? The sports dept. should run the whole thing. Really. Seriously.

Since Norv is here to stay I guess I will shift gears and waste your time by talking about Chargers sports in general. The low-down. The hub-bub and the gossip. If anyone is looking for a talented blogger to cover something I'm your man.

Ill just call my sources. And by the way. My sources say this:

Chargers take Cincy by 21 points. Chris Henry's unfortunate death will be more of a weight than inspiration. Chargers keep steam rolling.

And just for the record. Rivers is the reason the Chargers are in this position AND last years position. Not Norv. But I can't argue with results.

Superbowl or bust.

If you like offense, watch the Colts-Jags game on NFL Network right now. It's a good ol' fashioned shootout.

Anonymous said...

There hasn't been a punt in the game yet, and it's in the third quarter! 28-24 Colts.

Anonymous said...

What a game!

Colts win!

Congratulations regarding the baby news!!

Oh FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK if Norv is staying for six more years.

Well, more reporting for you, then.

Yes, Rivers IS the reason that the Chargers are winning, thankfully.

Anonymous said...

You whiners are full of crap. So if the Chargers lose, it's all Norv's fault; but if they win, it's only because of Rivers? You're such idiots. I'll go with the experts, who say that the Chargers are a well coached team.

Let's see if the Saints can come back to win. They were down 24-3 early in the fourth. Now it's 24-10. This game is truly testing their mettle. Can Brees get it back together after a rough start? Anybody who has the NFL Network who's not watching the Cowboys-Saints game is not a true fan of football.

Anonymous said...

WTF? Another missed FG saves the Saints! This is a repeat of the Skins game. Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.

Anonymous said...

1st and 10, Saints. 32 seconds left. 24-17 Cowboys. Saints' ball at their own 45.

Anonymous said...

Only 12 seconds left. I think that the Saints are done.

Anonymous said...

Saints lose. They're done (for the season).

Anonymous said...

The Saints won't win the Super Bowl, and they probably won't even make the Super Bowl. Do not say that I'm overreacting either.
1. The Saints didn't rest anybody. They were playing to win.
2. This was a late season loss, so it MATTERS.
3. They lost at HOME.
4. They got WORKED.
I've never seen a team play like that this late in the season (regardless of record) and come back to win the Super Bowl. The Aints are DONE. Favre is going to the Super Bowl.

Anonymous said...

The Saints getting out to slow starts has finally caught up with them, and their defense honestly isn't that good. They got worked by Romo. This doesn't look like a Super Bowl team to me. The NFC is wide open. The Colts are the team to beat in the AFC, but the Chargers play them well.

what's up with the guy above who who says we are whiners? sounds to me like he is whining more than we are. is it not obvious that this site is all about whining about norv turner? nothing wrong with that in my opinion. at least we stay on topic. for those who want to whine about anti-norv fans then perhaps they can start their own site. for all those who don't seem to get it, i'll explain why the majority of us are anti-norv. norv turner inherited a 14-2 football team and he has yet to win a superbowl. a lot of us liked marty and feel that egos overcame reason when he was let go and an unproven coach was brought in. so far our concerns have been validated since the chargers have yet to win the ultimate prize. i personally do not consider a few playoff wins as success. everybody knows that winning a superbowl is a tough thing to do and teams only have limited opportunities to make it happen. so we tend to get more frustrated as seasons pass and we have yet to even make it to the big game. there is only so long we will be able to keep this core group of players together. in my opinion, norv should be judged on whether or not chargers make it to the superbowl this year. if they don't then i think its time for a new coach. there are lots of qualified guys out there who are proven winners who should be happy to inherit such a squad. but if norv can bring us a superbowl then i'm sure we will all gladly shut up and lift him to legend status. i have no problem with that. i'm not hoping the chargers lose so i can justify bashing norv all this time. i'm actually routing for him. the chargers look pretty good here and we really need to make it happen. i've been a charger fan for 30 years and it would be great to celebrate that anniversary with the ultimate prize. by the way, i don't listen to football experts. the same guys never seem to do any better than any tom, dick or harry when it comes to picking winners each week. they are just guessing like the rest of us.

norv sucks said...

Well said above, anonymous # whatever.

This site is about Norv the coach that inherited a fantastic football team, loaded with talent, and proceeded to screw it up.

Yes, the Chargers are winning now, but they still have some very predictable bone head plays called by Norv. Who IS the offensive coordinator for the Chargers, anyway?

You never hear the name or any comments about the offensive coordinator for the Chargers. You do hear about Ron Rivera, but the reason you don't hear anything about the OC for the Chargers is that Norv is the OC.

Anyway, he must be an ass-kisser if he got a six year contract when there are coaches such as Shannahan out there who are not taking jobs with teams without a lot of talent. Do you think that if the Chargers went after a Shannahan or Gruden level coach that either of them wouldn't take it?

Anonymous said...

How on earth are we gonna win it all with the Chargers letting the opposition back in the game each week?

Go Chargers - clench the AFC WEST TITLE!

Anonymous said...

We are hurting with injuries. We need to get that bye so we get the extra week of rest.

Anonymous said...

Having to play on Christmas day, back East, with a ton of injuries, going to be difficult.

The Chargers cannot sit back and think they are going to win if they get ahead this time.

Anonymous said...

You're mad at Norv because they haven't won the Super Bowl, yet you liked Marty? Lol. The Chargers didn't win a single playoff game with Marty, not even when they were 14-2. Marty has never been to the Super Bowl. You can argue that the Chargers shouldn't have hired Norv, but Marty definitely deserved to be fired. If he's so great, why is no team interested in hiring him?

Anonymous said...

Marty being 5-13 in the playoffs is NOT a coincidence. On the other hand, Norv is 4-3 in the playoffs, and the Chargers are likely going to get a first round bye. They've won nine straight. They're on a roll.

Anonymous said...

marty didn't get canned because of his playoff record. he got canned because of aj's ego. marty's last year was the best i have ever seen the chargers. the team blew a late fourth quarter lead against new england unfortunately. otherwise i felt they were good enough to win it all. the team hasn't looked that good since in my opinion. this year still has potential though and we are definitely routing for the same outcome. go chargers!

Anonymous said...

Hey, Marty is old news BUT he did have a coaching style that seemed to be good for the team in that he had a disciplined group of young men playing for him and developed the players that Norv inherited.

It seems that style is missing with Norv, but right now the Chargers are winning and that is what we care about. I won't ever be a fan of Norv, just the Chargers. Norv is nothing but a glorified Offensive coordinator.

Anonymous said...

you say one more play off then the other guy no like 3 more your guy who went 14-12c before norv never one a playoff game chargers 1st since 1994 was norv's win in 07

What????? Marty IS still being discussed on this board. Well, I guess he made an impact.

Very glad about the win going on right now, HOWEVER, the Chargers are letting 28 run WAY too much.

Still, enjoying a fantastic Christmas game with the Chargers ahead with some pad, it looks like. Tennessee is beating themselves in some aspects. The guys calling the game should go home - they suck.

GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

It's official; the Chargers will host a divisional round playoff game on Saturday, January 16 at 8 P.M. ET on CBS.

Anonymous said...

Buy tickets if you want to see a Chargers' playoff game under the lights. 1/16/10 5:15 P.M. PST.

Anonymous said...

The Chargers should NOT rest their starters next Sunday vs. the Redskins. Teams that rest their starters usually end up being rusty in the playoffs, and the Chargers get a bye week too. Two weekends of rest for their starters is just too much.

Anonymous said...

But hey at least need to rest the guys that have nagging injuries. And pull the starters in the second half.

Anonymous said...

The Chargers now are not the same team that marty coached, look at the roster and if your such a charger fan you would already know that at least half the starters on defense and a few on offense have changed. and if you want to put all the success on rivers back thats fine, but you might want to take a second and think about what changed in 2007 that has increased rivers production ever year since. hmmmmmm i wonder....

Alright! Very cool indeed.

tom cable is officially now the worst head coach in the nfl. 1st and 2 from the goal and he calls four straight passes, dumbest thing ive ever seen, as well as not giving michael bush any carries in the second half when he had 10 for 52 yards in the first half following a 100 yard performance against the broncos, instead he gave them to mcfadden who had 5 for 16 in the first half. he makes norv look like lombardi.

morgino said...

Yes Dave, I am indeed a FireNorv superfan. However I have seen a change in Norv, he is emotional and has his team believing. I saw a couple after game team talks and I am starting to like the guy more and more. Take us to the promised land Norv! I'll make sure you have a face to face with Dave for all the grief he has given you over the years where you can give him a swift kick to the nutz!

Anonymous said...

Dave is alright with me. The Chargers lacked discipline at the start of each of the last 3 seasons and deserved the criticism in my opinion. But they have done a 180 this year following that disasterous game versus the Steelers. And Norv deserves credit. This Charger team is as close to a Superbowl as I think I have ever seen. Go Bolts, please!! I can't handle another disappointing end to the season.

Anonymous said...

Hey dudes, good site. If we fire Norv now who will they pick to be the interim coach? I really think we should fire him now because he is awful and we can do better next season.

Charger Fan said...

Just curious how many Fire Norv shirts have been sold? I bet millions of them.

I agree with the previous comment too. We should fire Norv now because he doesn't know anything about football and he isn't emotional. If Norv wasn't the coach, the Chargers would be 16-0 and never lose. Ever. If Norv wasn't the coach the Chargers would have 2 Super Bowls and would have been 38-0 the past 2 years. They left points on the board versus the Titans. If Norv wasn't coach, the Chargers would have put up 60. We need a super emotional coach like Josh McDaniels because he's super emotional on the sidelines and he has the Broncos headed in the right direction. Fire AJ too because he makes the worst personnel decisions in the history of the league. If AJ wasn't the GM then the Chargers would have all 22 starters in the Pro Bowl each year plus the 3 Special Teamers. It's all AJ's and Norv's fault! Especially Norv!

They should name the creator of this great website the new head coach and GM because he's so knowledgeable about football. He likes to complain about everything and blame Norv for everything that goes wrong. That's so cool. I wish I could be like him. He's even lobbying for another job from his December 17 post, "If anyone is looking for a talented blogger to cover something I'm your man."

Anonymous said...

funny how many norv fans have come out of the woods all of a sudden. i didn't here from them early in the season. if they are so in love with norv then why don't they start their own website www.hirenorv.net. i checked and the address is still available. norv deserves credit for the chargers recent success and deserved the criticism early in the year when the chargers sucked. it comes with the territory. if dave wants to run a website to voice his opinion then he is entitled. he's actually got a lot of attenton with this site. his 15 minutes of fame is probably more than your sorry a$$ will ever see. so no need to act all high and mighty. go dave! go chargers!

Agreed. I still say fire Norv now. This season is over. Let's move on and get ready for next season.

More Charger Fans said...

Well if Dave is going to be critical of Norv then he must be open to criticism himself. If you have a FireNorv website while the Chargers are doing well, this should be expected. Just like if the Chargers are doing poorly, fans will start these types of sites.

Mike in SD said...

Dave said, "And just for the record. Rivers is the reason the Chargers are in this position AND last years position. Not Norv."

I agree with Dave's position and the previous posts. Let's fire Norv now. This would be the perfect time to do this. I also think the Chargers should start punting on third down. This strategy combined with firing Norv now would be such a surprise and get these Chargers headed in the right direction. Just like the Broncos and Josh McDaniels. Now there is a franchise that has it's sh*t together. These Chargers are a mess with Norv and AJ running the show.

Dave's Best Friend said...

Punting on third down? That's dumb. I do agree with firing Norv now. I agree with Dave that he has nothing to do with the development of Philip Rivers, just like how he had nothing to do with the development of Troy Aikman. I don't care that Troy selected Norv as his Hall of Fame induction intro guy. Troy doesn't know what he is talking about and the Chargers are awful.

Anonymous said...

Let's sign norv to a ten year extension right now before the end of the season and pay him ten times what the next highest paid coach gets. He has coached one of only 6 charger teams to post at least 12 wins in a single season. The 8 and 8 record last year and the 3 crappy starts to each of his three seasons were purely a fluke. We have to put our faith in this guy blindly because he has proven himself beyond a shadow of a doubt. Norv deserves to be voted coach of the millenium. We all need to jump on the bandwagon and give him credit for turning around this disaster of a team that he inherited. Woot for Norv Turner!!! Rivers is nothing without Turner. Would probably be a backup by now with a 50 or less quaterback rating if it were not for Norv.

Anonymous said...

In addition to his teammates, Rivers also credits Head Coach Norv Turner with much of the success he’s enjoyed.

“He’s been huge in my progress. I knew very early on when we first met that we thought a lot alike and have similar approaches to the game. That helped immediately because we were able to understand how each other thinks. Running this system and his ability to coach the position is exceptional. It’s been a great fit.”

I love sarcasm said...

I disagree. Fire Norv now. The Chargers are a disaster. 3 AFC West Division titles are not enough. I say if a coach doesn't win a Super Bowl then they should be fired. Same goes for the GM.

This site is awesome! It's cool to pile on when the going is tough but never have any new posts when the team is winning.

Anonymous said...

I disagree. Let's complain about how much Norv sucks when the Chargers are winning and then just stay quiet on this anti-norv site when the Chargers are losing and not living up to their potential. Then we can just sit back and wait for all the support to come in from all those Norv fans who loved him when he was winning and are willing to stand by their man when the going is tough because they are so loyal and losing is acceptable. Woot go Chargers!!

Anonymous said...

Hey dudes, I have an idea. Let's boycott watching all Chargers games until Norv is fired. We need to band together and send a message to the ownership that we're not going to sit back and take this anymore.

Walter Jones said...

Now that's a great idea! I'm with you on that one. No more Charger games. Let's keep complaining about Norv and really show those Chargers that we mean business by not supporting the team.

All the credit to the Chargers' turnaround goes to this website anyways. This website is the sole reason that motivated the Chargers to play better and not Norv. It's so obvious because all the Chargers view this website for their motivation since Norv can't do it.

Anonymous said...

Yeah complaining all the time is fun!

Anonymous said...

Let's whine about how others whine. Let's complain about how others complain. Let's stay quiet when Norv is losing and be loud when Norv is winning. Then let's whine/complain about those who are loud when Norv is losing and quiet when he is losing even though it is the entire purpose of this website. Go Chargers, woot!

Anonymous said...

Are they going to fire Norv now? Who do you think will be teh coach next season? We should start a Fire Norv petition, those work really well. Thanks!

Dave said...

After Norv gets fired today, I think the Chargers will go after Josh McDaniels, since he's such a great motivator and he's animated on the sidelines. Being emotional on the sidelines is the number one criteria the Chargers need to look for in a head coach.

I think Norv has done such a horrible job during his three years here. The Chargers have basically been in rebuilding mode the second Norv took over since he's so incompetent.

I think they need to fire Norv, AJ, and get rid of all their players and just start from scratch. These Chargers just aren't living up to their potential and it's all Norv's fault.

I'm the type of Charger fan that likes to complain all the time and make outlandish comments like this, "Just like the Broncos running away from the Chargers in this photo, so it is true for the two teams futures. Broncos UP. Chargers Down.

I think everyone now can agree the team is talented but that it has not been coached properly. Next year (or even maybe tomorrow) the team will look very different than it does today."

Anonymous said...

What happens if we fire Norv today? Do we forfeit our playoff spot? Will that help us in the draft? You are right, the Broncos and the Chargers are heading in two different directions. The future is looking really bleak for Chargers fans right now. That's why we need to fire Norv now and focus on cleaning house and rebuilding the team for next season.

Dave said...

I think our playoff spot is fine even if we fire Norv today. I wouldn't want to go into the playoffs with Norv anyways. He's the reason why the Chargers have done so poorly this year. I would rather end the season now than go another day with Norv as head coach! I really enjoy disliking Norv even more than I like the Chargers. I'm not really a fan of the Chargers, I just really dislike Norv.

Tardar said...

I say fire Turner now. He's too good for you. Charger fans need to go back to their status quo of being the whooopin boy of the AFC West.

Anonymous said...

Man these Chargers are a mess. I say fire Norv and hire Josh McDaniels because he is emotional. I like the benching of Marshall & Scheffler on the Broncos biggest game of the year. I also like how he has divided the locker room with his great leadership and Belichick-sized ego. If not McDaniels then hire Tom Cable. He is emotional and has a history of violence. The Raiders are a model franchise so I don't need to explain why Cable would be an obvious choice. Fire Norv today!

I say fire AJ and hire Al Davis as the new GM even though he already owns the Raiders. Al really understands how to draft players. AJ doesn't know how to find talent.

Anonymous said...

Some news and notes from NFL Week #17:
The world champion Pittsburgh Steelers are eliminated from playoff contention.
The Houston Texans finish with a winning record for the first time in franchise history, and they are still alive in the playoff race, as of now.
The Oakland Raiders lose at least eleven games for the seventh consecutive season.
The San Francisco 49ers avoid seven consecutive losing seasons.
The Atlanta Falcons finish consecutive seasons with winning records for the first time in franchise history.
The San Diego Chargers win their eleventh straight game.
The Tennesse Titans finish 8-8 after starting the season 0-6.
The Denver Broncos finish 8-8 after starting the season 6-0 (and miss playoffs), yet another late season collapse.
The New York Giants finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs after a 5-0 start.
The New Orleans Saints finish 13-3 after starting the season 13-0, resting Drew Brees today.
The Indianapolis Colts lose their second straight game after winning twenty-three consecutive regular season games.
The Kansas City Chiefs win for the first time in nine tries at Invesco Field.
The St. Louis Rams win the #1 draft pick, finishing 1-15.

The Situation said...

13-3??? What a horrible regular season showing. The Chargers definitely lacked heart. They only won their last 11 regular season games. Should have been more if Norv wasn't the coach.

Also news from the NFL:

They have both Indy and San Diego LOSING today.

I didn't have that big of a problem (because I feel the same) with the Fox post game show saying that Norv is a "good Offensive Coordinator", BUT when you go to the NFL.com site and they have written that the Chargers LoST today, when they WON, SUCKS.

Right on Dave, it is my thing to dislike NORV much!

roflcopter said...

The Chargers are red hot because of Rivers AND Norv. Norv calls the plays; and believe it or not (you don't because you don't really understand the game), he is an excellent pass playcaller. His is an aggressive, downfield passing scheme. Of course, he needs an accurate and strong QB to make those schemes work, and that's where Rivers comes in. And quit bitching about the running calls already. Haven't you noticed how many deep completions Rivers makes off of the hard play action? Those deep passes are open because they are set up by the running plays. Rivers himself has said that their passing game would not be as effective if they didn't ever run the ball. And guess what..it's Norv calling the run plays, to mix it up and keep the defenses on their toes. The running game doesn't have to be terribly effective, it just needs to be used at the right time.

Try to learn something about football for once. Idiot.

Norv SHOULD BE FIRED! I'll tell you why. If the Chargers had finished the 3 seed, they DEFINITELY would have lost to either Baltimore or the Jets. There's no way a Norv coached team could have beaten either one of those two teams. Norv should indeed be fired this week, since it's clear that the Chargers would most definitely have lost. Even if the Chargers win next week (which they probably will), it will on be because they had a bye while the Jets played this week and have to travel out west. Yeah, Norv should really be fired.

Oh how funny! (Above comment).

The Jets and the Ravens both are playing tough defense right now, when it counts.

I really don't give a shit about the USA Today "Coach of the Year".

Basically, par for the course, with San Diego never doing as well as expected, so they went apeshit with that proclamation about Norv.

There is such an East Coast bias with the national press that they don't ever expect much from a West coast team. Well, I guess we'll see what happens next. We got a couple of East Coast AFC teams playing really tough right now. Good thing New England is gone, but quite frankly, we probably COULD have beat them this time.

Good Luck Chargers and go for it!

I'm very curious to know....what will all you Norv-Haters do when the Chargers win the Superbowl? You guys talk about Norv taking over a 14-2 team and not winning the superbowl. Marty HAD the 14-2 team and couldn't win a playoff game! You don't like him because he failed under TWO shitty owners in Washington and Oakland? He doesn't scream and yell like some idiot head coaches in the league? The numbers speak for themselves - His Chargers are 32-16 and have won three consecutive AFC West titles. Coryell is the only other coach to accomplish that. I know that you most of you just like to bitch, so I wonder what you will cry about when we win it all this year? I'll make you a deal. I'll buy 20 Fire-Norv T-shirts if we don't win the superbowl. Will each of you write a personally apology to the Chargers front office if they do win?

Anonymous said...

We'll hoot and holler you moron. The only reason people hate Norv is because they are Chargers fans and the Chargers were losing. Why would I write the front office an apology. Are they going to write me an apology if they don't win? Last I checked they were getting paid millions of dollars to win football games. I think they can put up with a bit of bitching when they don't perform. By the way, the biggest bitch on this site is you.

We're not whiners. Norv is a terrible coach and has nothing to do with the team's current success. The team plays with no heart under his leadership. He needs to be fired now before the next playoff game so we have time to find a replacement for next season. I really think this team has a chance to go far in the playoffs next season but not while Norv is coach. If we fire him now we can really start to prepare for a good run next season with a better coach. Face it buys, this season is a disaster and it's over.

chargers are going to lose to the jets. norv strikes again he clearly had his team ill prepared for this game and stupid mistakes early on cost them. not going for it on fourth and one early on was really stupid. they would have gone up fourteen zip and basically put the game away. missed fg at start also hurt, two weeks in a row the jets have had opposing kickers miss easy chipshot fgs. lucky jets... stupid norv.
if norv stays with this franchise another six years it assures them they will never win a sb and just get worse and worse. I'm glad I'm a dolphins fan. I hate the jets so much so the colts better take care of em next round.

It is hard to believe that anything mbt sneakers so inherently ugly as the MBT shoe could ever catch on mbt shoes review with either the younger generation or the fitness fanatics but it has. mbt sneakers The shoes or I suppose they should be called trainers have thick curved soles and wide straps across the front. Currently mbt shoes best prices the are available in over 20 countries and have sold more than a million pairs a year. Considering that they have a price tag of around $200 it is even buy mbt shoes more remarkable.

MBT shoes, which stand for Masai discount mbt shoes Barefoot Technology were invented by Karl Muller a Swiss engineer. He MBT suffered back and knee problems but on a trip to Korea he noticed MBT shoes that after walking barefoot through paddy fields the symptoms were relieved. With further MBT shoes research he discovered that the Masai tribesmen from Kenya did not suffer back problems shoe for worked and had perfect posture. Putting these two facts together he decided that MBT the answer was because they were walking on soft surfaces mbt shoes best prices which yielded as they trod on them. This buy mbt shoes was unlike in Europe and America where we tend to walk on firm surfaces such as sidewalks.

The first MBT was manufactured in 1996 and soon MBT became popular on continental Europe. Since then many celebrities have MBT been seen sporting MBTs. The concept basically is that the mbt sneakers curved sole creates instability as you walk, which mbt shoes cheap mimics the effect of walking barefoot. To counteract this the foot uses muscle to counter this mbt sneakers and creates a natural body training effect.

As to the question of whether they buy mbt shoes are worth the money I suppose this has to be a personal judgement.
