Don't forget to watch Norv Turner coach the AFC Pro Bowl team Sunday on Fox. It's more Norvamania!
Those chickenshits Brady and Moss won't be in the Pro Bowl. Poor babies! BIGGEST CHOKE EVER!
It looks like Eli made the right decision in going to the Big Apple after all. He made the choice because the Chargers are a nothing-happenin' franchise of losers while the Giants having a history of winning. He was right. Take THAT, Chargers' fans. Eli! Eli! Eli! Eli! Eli! Eli! He's going to Disneyland! You only WISH that he was your QB.
Too bad Jr. didn't get his ring.
Didn't care to see Eli win, but the key to the game was keeping the pressure on Tom Brady. That's what the Chargers should have done.
Looks like the Chargers have a chance next year.
At least it wasn't a blow-out and the country got to see a good game.
Maybe the reason why so many PRO players are checking OUT of the Pro-Bowl is that Norv will be coaching it, you freakazoid. Talk about choke. When the Giants can beat the Pats, then the Chargers should have beaten them earlier.
The Giants are better than the Chargers. As far as Moss and Brady missing the Pro Bowl goes, it's because they're despondent, not because they don't want to play for Norv in a game that's meaningless anyway. Moss did play one season for Norv in Oakland though. I'm sure that he didn't enjoy it, but it was hardly Norv's fault. No coach can win in Oakland anymore until Al Davis dies.
Let's not forget that the Giants played the Patsies at a neutral site, whereas the Chargers had to play them in Foxborough. BTW, why are people counting this as the Giants' eleventh road win of the season? The Super Bowl is not a road game; it's a neutral site game. The Giants won the most road games in one season with ten, but that is not the record for most consecutive road victories. That honor belongs to the San Francisco 49ers, who won nineteen consecutive road games (including playoffs) from 1988-1990. Nobody's breaking that record.
BTW, so much for that kook Ron Paul. His campaign is toast. The guy's a nutcase. He's an extremist who wants to dismantle the federal government (get rid of the FDA, FBI, CIA, EPA, etc.). He even wants us out of Afghanistan. Apparently, he doesn't care about getting Bin Laden. Oh, and Paul says that Lincoln was wrong for fighting the Civil War (even though the Confederates attacked Ft. Sumter). Good riddance to that piece of shit.
There are some real nuts out here.
The Giants coach has a winning record.
The Giants were able to take their defensive line and pressure Brady and it worked.
Norv Turner did NOT have a winning record in Oakland, Washington or ANYWHERE, until he came into San Diego and inherited a very talented team that should have won and should have made it to the Super Bowl, as the Giants did.
Norv did not have a .500 record as the author of this blog seems to think. Norv had a losing record. The two coaches who competed in the Super Bowl have winning records.
Get a Clue. Coaching DOES matter.
And this time, Belichick was outcoached. If the Pats are such cheaters, don't you think they would have won the big one?
The Giants D-line won the Super Bowl.
P.S.
Tell Gruden you can't win in Oakland.
No, the Chargers should NOT have made the Super Bowl. They're not good enough. Norv did a great job this season. Once again, he failed in Washington and Oakland because of the meddling owners there. If you've noticed, NO head coach in Oakland has been able to accomplish shit in several years. Al Davis picks the players.
Gruden won in Oakland because Davis actually gave him some good players, IDIOT. Gruden lucked out with some good old farts like Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, and Rich Gannon. Norv didn't have that luxury. The team had fallen apart by the time that Norv got there, MORON. Al Davis has WAY too much control over who gets to play on that team, and the sad fact is that the game has passed by Mr. Davis. Norv didn't have a fair shake in Oakland. You know nothing about football, you dumb piece of shit. Please, tell me what Norv could have done with the Raiders in 2004-2005. They were a talentless bunch of bums. Please tell me how Norv was supposed to get them to the Super Bowl, faggot.
Seriously, I want to know how Norv Turner was supposed to get the Raiders to the Super Bowl in 2004 and 2005 with the players that they had. Come on, shithead. Fucking moron.
So Norv's life-long losing record counts for nothing.
Norv called all of the plays.
You'll see. No need to use all the derogatory names either, but then you have to become a fan of Hitler here also, you extemist/ supremist. Go back to Oakland or to the woods somewhere and become the new Uni-bomber or work on the Aryrian nation.
Why would anyone expect any critical remarks of Norv Turner at the Firenorv site anyway?
Aryan Nation? Hitler? WTF are you smoking? I honestly don't get that reference. BTW, it's spelled "unabomber," dumb fuck.
"Norv called all the plays" is your ace in the hole? It doesn't matter that he called the plays if his players were a bunch of bums, which they WERE in Oakland. For one thing, the Raiders didn't have a decent QB. Please explain to me how Norv was supposed to lead the Raiders to the Super Bowl in 2004 and 2005. I'm waiting, idiot.
When Gruden got Oakland to the Super Bowl it's luck. And then he goes to Tampa and get's them in and wins it, too. Must be luck again.
Otherwise, Norv would have won a couple of SBs up there, too, since he's such a genius and it's all the owners fault. Gruden worked with the same owners.
The KKK is missing its main follower right now, so you better get on back to where you are needed.
Can you say "narrow minded"?
Because all of the NFL experts don't seem to have the Norv Turner worship that this little faction has after the team got into the playoffs, which was absolutely expected, and then they choked in the AFC Championship game, which they could have won, as demonstrated by the 5th seeded Giants. They got TDs and the win.
Eli Manning has the most interceptions in the NFL and he got focused by his coaching team and the defense stepped up and played to their best ability. Defense wins Championships. San Diego absolutely could have done the same, but they did not have the coach with the leadership to guide them there.
But, no, it can't be Norv. No way. In fact, let's fire the receivers coach, yeah, that's it. That's the problem.
He's really just had all of these unlucky situations everywhere he's been. That's it. Poor Norv.
You're the dumb f*ck. If you can't see that the underdog came in and beat the Pats, then you need to go back and do some studying. They did it with defense. And San Diego has defense. And the fact is that Norv is still not a winner. Blame all you want on everything else. But the bottom line is, Norv has to take some blame on this one.
Norv called all the plays........
Talking about the San Diego Chargers doing their choke job in the AFC Championship game.
Don't go for it on 4th down. The D started out looking good and just fell off. No Norv on the sidelines during the game. He doesn't seem to understand - THERE IS NO NEXT TIME.
Let's play it safe with the FGs.
Well, we got to the the AFC Championship game, so that's good, right? Now San Diego knows not to expect much, so that's OK right?
WRONG! If the Giants can come in and win the Superbowl, then the Chargers underperformed.
The Giants wanted IT. They were coached better. They played better and they never let up on defense and they went for it.
Get the clue, Norv worshipper. Until you play with that intensity and passion, it ain't going to happen. Norv doesn't have that, ever.
He's not a bad guy; he's just not the right coach for San Diego.
San Diego has the talent, not the coach.
"norv's still not a winner," first of all, Gruden didn't get the Raiders to the Super Bowl; Callahan did. Secondly, what's with the KKK remarks? Thirdly, Lofton was a Marty guy, and Norv has the right to have his own guys. Fourthly, the Giants are a better team than the Chargers, and the Chargers didn't choke in Foxborough. The Patriots were simply better. BTW, you neglected to mention the fact that Marty was unable to get the Chargers to the AFC Championship Game. Finally, you still haven't explained how Norv should have gotten the Raiders to the Super Bowl in 2004 or 2005. Gruden had better players, including a better QB, under him in Oakland than Norv did. It's that simple. Norv was never in Tampa, idiot.
"let's move on," sorry, but Norv won't be fired since he outperformed Marty. He actually got the Chargers to the AFC Championship Game. Marty didn't. You pretty much have to kick a FG on 4th and long, Einstein. It's better to get three points than zero. The Giants played the Pats on neutral turf. The Chargers had to go to Foxborough. There's no comparison. Also, the Giants are a better team than the Chargers. The Chargers didn't "choke"; they lost to a better team. Norv will be back next season.
Nobody is arguing Norv's record.
He didn't have one. He didn't get Oakland anywhere. Norv has had a losing record. Look it up.
Gruden has a winning record:
Career Record 86-74-0 (Regular Season)
5-4 (Postseason)
91-78-0 (Overall)
Super Bowl
Wins Super Bowl XXXVII
Championships
Won 2003 NFC Championship
Oakland won 2 AFC West titles and went to the Championship games with Gruden there.
Keeping Norv around until he screws up enough is what will happen with the Chargers. Nobody is arguing anything about Marty here either.
The Giants are not necessiarly a better team than the Chargers. That's why they were the 5th seed.
They played NE better than SD did.
Belichick is taking the hit for the NE loss. Norv should be taking the hit for the Chargers loss.
No more arguing. You have your opinions and that's fine.
Again, please explain how Norv was supposed to get the Raiders to the Super Bowl. If you think that the Raiders would have won under Gruden with their 2004 & 2005 rosters, you're an idiot. I'm all ears to find out your explanation. You keep resorting to records. Please EXPLAIN how the Raiders should have had winning records in 2004 and 2005.
The Giants didn't play like a fifth seed once they got into the playoffs. Had Eli played like that all season, they would have been the #1 seed. The Chargers, quite simply, aren't as good. The Patriots choked; the Chargers lost to a better team.
Yes, the Pats still choked, even though the Giants are better than the Chargers. Furthermore, Belichick's an idiot for going on 4th and 13 instead of kicking the FG.
Hey Giants fan, why don't you tell everyone why Norv can't win a Championship anywhere? You pick the year.
As a Chargers fan, who gives a crap about Oakland, Eli Manning, or any of your other meaningless arguments?
And saying that Lofton was Marty's guy is a copout. Everyone around the league and the SD fans all thought canning Lofton was a dumb move. Or just a chickenshit move. Were the receivers doing so badly? Or did the defense start falling apart in the Championship game? Since you're such a Giants expert, why don't you check out their game plan. I think it was heavy on defense.
Oh, but let's give ALL the credit to Eli Manning now.
Once again, for Chargers fans, it's wait another year. Again.
someone must have linked the site. lots of traffic feb. 6th
It's always been "next year" for the Chargers though, regardless of who their head coach was. Why single out Norv? If Norv screws up in the future, can him. However, it's silly to fire the guy after the Chargers won their first playoff game in over a decade. If you want Norv fired right now, please tell me who should replace him. As far as the Giants go, yes, the defense deserves a lot of credit for getting pressure on Brady. However, Eli was the MVP and did a great job. He threw two TD's, right? He's finally turned the corner, and nobody's laughing at him anymore. It looks like the Chargers are missing out on a good thing, but that was Eli's choice to make. He didn't want to play for a franchise that's never accomplished anything.
And the losing coach of the Pro-Bowl IS
NORV TURNER...........
No surprise here............
With all of the talent from all kinds of teams and a big early lead...still couldn't get it done.
Must be bad luck - AGAIN.
"Norvamania" coaching the AFC?
Whoaaaa - not impressed.
Again, we see a game that should have been won, and was lost.
The AFC has been dominant for years.
But, I'm sure the Norv fan here at "FIRENORV" will have excuses for Norv's coaching "skills" again in this loss today against the NFC. And you will be in the minority.
Face it, "Norvamania" writer, this guy is not in the big leagues with the pros and should not be a head coach in the NFL. You can't blame the owner this time or start blaming all sorts of extranious reasons, i.e. "cheating", injuries, lack or talented players, etc. Norv is not one of the elite coaches of the NFL, nor will he ever be one.
norv's bad luck continues, please stop embarrassing yourself. Nobody gives a shit about the Pro Bowl. Judging a head coach by whether or not his Pro Bowl team won is absolutely silly, especially since the Pro Bowl has DIFFERENT RULES than all other games. Not to mention, Norv said that he WANTED to kick the ball to Hester because of how great the guy is. You don't get it. It's a meaningless game designed for showcasing talent. Nobody cares who wins.
The AFC has been dominant for years? Well, which conference won the Super Bowl? Anyway, it's a meaningless game. Your attacks are pathetic, moron.
The Pro Bowl head coaches got their teams to the conference championship round, which is an accomplishment.
Again, will the MORONS who say that Norv should be fired come up with the name of a replacement? Otherwise, STFU.
Once again, the Pro Bowl doesn't even have the same rules as other football games, and nobody gives a shit about the game anyway.
Norv beat Tony Dungy's Colts with BACKUP PLAYERS. Obviously he had a good game plan. Norv deserves credit for getting the Chargers to the AFC title game, something that the Chargers haven't been able to do since 1994. Good job, Norv. However, the pressure's on next season because the fans want PROGRESS. Progress = get to the Super Bowl.
Another thing that annoys me: earlier in the thread, a Norv basher used "He called the (offensive) plays" as his sole reason in blaming Norv for the Raiders' woes. Hey, genius, first of all, it's not disputed by ANYONE in football that Norv is an offensive genius. Look at what he did in Dallas. Look at what he did in San Francisco, for God's sake. 2006 was the only year in recent memory that the Niners DIDN'T have a completely inept, anemic, laughable offense. Norv's ability to call plays should never be questioned. This is not to say that Norv is a great HEAD COACH. However, the guy knows offense, and the Raiders quite simply didn't have the personnel in Norv's two years as their head coach, on either side of the ball for that matter.
Just to clear up one point for the Norv fan, the comment "Norv calls all of the offensive plays" was referring to the Chargers and this season, not Oakland.
Didn't have to go back that far; don't care about Oakland, not an Oakland fan. Not a Dallas fan, not a Dallas fan and not a Giants fan.
Don't really want to continue to debate all of Norv's career. Just not a fan. People can feel that way and a lot of people still do - just are not convinced that Norv is the answer for the Chargers.
The Chargers fans, would however, like to see a better coach.
Oh, the different rules issue is why the AFC lost the pro-bowl with a big lead and the sloppy plays by the NFC team?
Or was it the two "choke" guys Moss and Brady were missing for the AFC?
Thanks for clearing up that "different rules issue". When Belichick coached the AFC pro-bowl team, they won.
At least Cromartie was a high light. YEAH!
Just blame that loss on Belichick and Brady, since Norv never takes any blame. Maybe Lofton's fault.
Oh well, the game doesn't count anyway, so let's not debate it and six or seven other teams also.
Belichick coached another Pro Bowl team though. Again, it doesn't matter; nobody gives a shit about the game. Even the guys in charge of the game clock don't give a shit. Several times during the game the game clock kept running when it should have been stopped. Since when does the game clock run after a kickoff or an incomplete pass? The Pro Bowl is a game where everyone phones it in.
Anyway, if you want Norv gone, please name the person who should replace him. I think that it's silly to fire Norv after he got them to the AFC Championship Game. If the Chargers underachieve in 2008, then Norv may be fired. However, he's not going to be canned now.
You're right.
Everyone really likes him and thinks that he's the best coach in the NFL.
Fire Norv = we like the guy!
Go Chargers in 2008
He's not the best coach in the NFL either, but he did a good job last season.
What's with the "the Raiders didn't have any talent" argument? It's pretty well documented that Norv lost the locker room and let guys like Woodson (talented) and Moss (very talented) run all over him. Gannon was playing alright until he got hurt. Kerry Collins had been very effective in New York and was hardly talentless. The team wasn't fantastic, but they could've gotten some more wins if Norv Turner hadn't let the team degenerate into a mess of politics and bullshit.
Bologna. The team sucked BEFORE Norv got there, and it's sucked since he left. Norv's the only guy who's gotten them to five wins in the last five seasons.
