I am a man of my word....

OH Yea. By the way.... I called a 4 point win by the Chargers. I might not have been right on the score but my spread skills are undeniable! Chargers won by 4 as I predicted!! Once again.

Is this the President? The Prime Minister? A movie star? NO.. It's Norv Turner! Coach of the San Diego Chargers who are now going to play New England in the AFC Championship game.

As promised. If we won this game and we did better than Marty did I would put up a site called www.givenorvaraise.com so i did it. It should propogate within 24 hours.

I dont personally think we won just because of Norv but rather because of the talented team the Chargers have but the man DID GET THE JOB DONE so far. So I was wrong. You were right. There I said it. Now visit his fan site to comment on how long you want Norv to be the Chargers head coach and how much you love him. This will still be the bitter vent when you pissed site. The other site will be the happy, hold hands positive site. Now someone please hold my hand.

What you don't seem to get is that a team NEEDS to be talented in order to win in the playoffs. Let's see now. Last year with Marty, the Chargers were definitely talented, but they lost in the playoffs. This year with Norv, they were talented and WON in the playoffs. Advantage Norv. It's NORVAMANIA RUNNING WILD! NORVAMANIA! NORVAMANIA! Once again, Norv made Dungy look like a bum.

Dave said...

so . by your logic.. if the chargers win a game its because of norm? are you a Bush fan too? reality is calling............they would like their idiot back..

Anonymous said...

Norm? WTF is Norm? Dave, you pretty much have to eat your words now. 11-5 and no first round bye but two playoff wins is definitely better than 14-2 and a first round bye and losing your first playoff game. Norv has outdone Marty. Only stubborn idiots won't admit that by now. Dave, I love how when they win under Norv, he had nothing to do with it, yet it was all Marty's "genius" whenever they won a game under him. I love the hypocrisy. You guys were all pissed off when the Chargers started 1-3 this year. Well they rebounded quite nicely from that. If you don't want to give Norv any credit for that, you at least have to admit that he did nothing to CAUSE THEM TO LOSE in the playoffs, unlike Marty. Norv let them play their game and win without a bunch of coaching fuckups. Just face it, MORON. It's now "Marty who?" in San Diego. BTW, if you paid attention, RETARD, you'd know that I'm not a fan of Bush. You liberal Marty fans are such idiots. I'm willing to bet that if the Chargers lost today, you would have put ALL the blame on Norv, yet he gets no credit when they win. DUMBASS.

Dave, are you the guy who's for Ron Paul? Bwahahahahahahahaha. Ron Paul's a twit with no chance in hell of being elected President. He makes Hillary look tough.

hmmm,

interesting how the poll hasn't changed from the vast majority that voted for Fire Norv.

Could it be that nobody gives a crap now that the Chargers are winning? And really now, almost every Chargers fan knows that they have pulled it together as a team in spite of having Norv Turner as a coach and started winning when they focused on winning without Norv present in their own team meetings.

Give us a break.

And let's now focus on the next BIG thing - winning in New England.

OK - genious - who has a giant hard on for Norv Turner - let's see your game plan for that.

P.S. Bush still sucks. And who the hell is Ron Paul?

noooooo norvs said...

Norv, norm, nerd, nodule, no no, nominal, nervous, never, nutless - whatever........

Who cares?

He still sucks.

Anonymous said...

Hey anonymous moron, when did I say that I liked Bush? "Pulled it together in spite of having Norv Turner as a coach"? Well, they couldn't put it together in spite of having Marty as a coach, so I guess that, even according to your retarded logic, Norv is a better head coach than Marty. Eat a dog turd. Norv outcoached Dungy and had his team much better prepared than Dungy did today.

Anonymous said...

BTW, it's spelled "genius," MORON.

Anonymous said...

noooo norvs, riiiiiiiight. The Chargers have already gone further under his leadership than they did under Marty. Facts are facts. Let's face it; the Chargers have OVERACHIEVED this year, since the Colts were the favorites today. Good job by Norv. The Chargers obviously had a good offensive plan going today against one of the top ranked defenses in the league. Of course you idiots wouldn't even give Norv credit if the Chargers won the Super Bowl. Lol. IT'S NORVAMANIA!

Anonymous said...

Norv certainly won't be fired after this season. You guys are idiots. Lol. Why does this site still exist?

Anonymous said...

Dave, hey MORON, give me one valid reason why you think that Norv should be fired, given what the Chargers have accomplished this season. I'm sorry, but "Well, he sucks" isn't a valid answer. I guarantee that you won't come up with anything valid. Furthermore, all of you guys who say that "they won in spite of Norv" should try explaining what Norv did wrong that they needed to make up for. Finally, as far as the "Norv had nothing to do with it; they won because they have talent. If my grandma were their head coach, they would have won today"-esque argument goes, tell that to Marty Shittenheimer. They were talented last year and choked in their first playoff game to an inferior Pats team. The head coach DOES have something to do with it. Otherwise, why do you even need a head coach?

Anonymous said...

Norv's an offensive genius. It's NORVAMANIA! WHATCHA GONNA DO, BROTHER?

Anonymous said...

Reality would like their idiot back? That doesn't make sense. Dave, you're a fucking idiot. Every time that you try to sound clever, you come off like an moron. You ARE a moron. Lol @ "Norm." Douchebag. Now answer my question. Why should Norv be fired, shitforbrains?

What a bunch of angry drunks. I started this blog because I didnt think Norv was the long term solution for the Chargers. I still dont think he is the long term solution but since they won the division game I am willing to revaluate my position. SEE? Now if your a super norv fan then go to www.givenorvaraise.com

Not drunk, go bolts said...

Agreed with the above comment.

The team with the most talented players won yesterday as they should have. The angry stubborn person(s) who keep debating the people who know that Norv is not the long term solution should go right on over to the GiveNorvaRaise site and have a hey day.

They seem to think this is a debate over if Marty is a better coach than Norv. Marty is a better caoch than Norv, (check the stats) but I did not think that this was the purpose of this site. We all know that Marty is not coming back. Would love to see Pete Carroll, Bill Cowher, or some other inspirational coach in here, but the point is that A.J. does not appear to like any coach with an opinion different than his or the guts to speak up. Just listen to any local sports radio show and if you have ever heard Marty's speaches, you would want to run out on the field and play. Whereas, with Norv, you just about fall to sleep. Yes, I know the Chargers won 2 playoff games with Norv as the coach, no need to beat it to death. Look at the opion of Norv nationally and of the team. A lot of question marks still reamain.

Also, Norv NEVER won 11 regular season games as a head coach anywhere prior to this season. Could it be that the Chargers had a very talented team that was already on its way? Winning in the regular season is what gets a team to the post season. Must be something to do with the TEAM. Is it possible that the Chargers would be in the same position if Marty was still here? Oh, it must be ALL Norv Turner. Go to the Charger's locker room and tell the players that. I'd like to see that.

But I digress, THIS IS NOT ABOUT MARTY. He is gone and is not coming back. That is water under the bridge and not worth debating over and over at this point. It's about stupid decisions made by A.J. Smith and the management of the Chargers.

I love the Chargers and want them to stay in San Diego. And with our stupid City Council, they will probably be gone. Forever. And San Diego won't have an NFL team. Ever again. And why don't we keep the team that we have had for 46 years??????????

Anyway, let's go CHARGERS and kick some serious BUTT in New England.

And let's go Charger's fans and UNITE. Norv fans, go to the new site and sing his praises. Everybody be happy.

This excerpt from the THE SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS by Tim Kawakami says it very well:

Speasking about Al Davis and Norv Turner:

"He (Al Davis) watches all the games–his Raiders haven’t actually been in a postseason game since the Super Bowl loss on Jan. 26, 2003, so that’s a lot of playoff games for Al to just sit and watch.

He had to be going crazy over the weekend, however, watching Randy Moss breeze into the AFC title game with the Patriots and Norv Turner squeezing his Chargers into the same spot.

Randy vs. Norv for a spot in the Super Bowl.

Other than the dread fear of ever seeing Mike Shanahan or Jon Gruden win more Super Bowls (not a large chance of that), I think the dramatic success of Moss and Turner are Al’s greatest 2008 nightmares and tell the most chilling tales about all that has gone wrong with Al’s Raiders.

Al tries. Al cares. I respect Al for that. Al knows more about football than me and a thousand mes could ever know. I acknowledge that. But he has screwed it up with the Raiders for a while now, and Sunday’s AFC title game shows us precisely how…

* When Al hired Norv to coach the Raiders to replace Bill Callahan in 2004, AD was counting on a proven X-and-O guy to tamp down the unruliness–a players’ kind of coach who could just lay down the right gameplan for Al’s gaudy collection of talent.

That’d be “gaudy” in Al’s mind only, of course, but Al’s mind is the only one that counts in Raiderland.

Norv, in many ways, was the kind of coach Al needs now–not a big personality (Al always dominates), not going to upset the players (the anti-Callahan), can set up a nice offensive gameplan (like Gruden), and get the Al Weapons down field.

But wait. That didn’t happen with Turner in his two seasons with the Raiders. Something in that equation failed. The players sort of liked him and there were no rebellions. But nothing happened, either.

Al’s conclusion: Norv was a failure with all that “great” Raider talent, so therefore Al must’ve over-estimated Norv’s coaching ability.

WRONG. Norv somehow got the Chargers, who were without their best offensive players in the fourth quarter, to beat Indianapolis in Indy to get to the AFC title game.

Now, I’ve probably criticized Norv’s head-coaching skills as much as anybody. Think he’s an excellent offensive coordinator, not so much with the leadership and the will you need as a head coach.

But, unlike during his time with the Raiders, Norv has lots of talent to work with in San Diego, and he has worked it into very nice shape.

My conclusion: Norv’s NOT a great coach and he’d probably fail in 25 to 30 other spots. He failed in Oakland.

But the greater failure during Turner’s Raider career was Davis’ inability to put together a roster that made sense; the greatest failure was that Al isn’t as good an executive as the Chargers’ A.J. Smith."

Very well said.

Talent DOES have a lot to do with, after all.

thanks for keeping that comment short and to the point.

I agree with the Kawakami article. Look, I've never said that Norv is in the same category as Bill Walsh or Vince Lombardi, but he's a decent head coach. You DO need talent to win, so he can't be blamed for what happened in Chokeland. Maybe he's not the "long term" answer either (whatever that means; are you expecting the Chargers to get a coach who'll lead them to the Super Bowl every year?), but there's no reason whatsoever to fire him after THIS season. Finally, even though it's a longshot, if the Chargers win on Sunday at New England, then yes, I'll definitely say with a straight face that Norv is a better head coach than Marty. Not just better for the Chargers, but better overall. Marty NEVER led any of his teams to the Super Bowl, and don't say that he never had talented teams. He coached four AFC #1 seeds, but only one of them could even get to the AFC title game. Again, it's a longshot on Sunday, but getting a team to the Super Bowl is a big deal.

Anonymous said...

Norv is ALREADY a better head coach for the Chargers than Marty was. Marty couldn't win the big one, and he had brain farts in postseason games.

Chargers Rule said...

Bill Belichek.

Check out his record.

That's were Chargers go to win Super Bowls. Ask Rodney.

I rest my case.

Anonymous said...

Who the hell was discussing Marty in that post anyway? And overall, he STILL has a winning record. It will take Norv a long, long time to get to that. Don't even want to discuss Marty. If they were gonna fire him, then get someone with a CLUE and a WINNING record. They go out and get Chambers and some other new players and you want to give Norv the credit. In other words, the same good team got even better. Oh, and then we were losing.

WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP BRINGING UP MARTY? Because he was liked and respected.

Don't bring up Marty again. He's gone. He would be going to NE if he was still here. But he isn't, O.K.? Broken record.

Doesn't mean that we are gonna like Norv. Got it? Get Cowher or a good coach, someone who has some PASSION for the freaking game and real leadership for the team. We have to grow to accept this guy, stop shoving him down our collective throats. Nobody can really be a die hard Chargers fan and love Norv this much.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, last anonymous guy, but I'll take a coach with a losing record who got ONE of his teams to the Super Bowl over a coach with a winning record who always chokes in the postseason any day of the week. Again, the Chargers are a long shot, so it's probably not going to happen anyway. However, Norv's done more with this team than Marty ever did. "Then get someone with a clue and a winning record"? I can't believe that people are still whining about the hiring of Norv. They've been a freakin' success this year, dummy! Last time I checked, L.T. was out most of the game yesterday. Rivers was out part of the game, and they STILL won. You can't possibly argue that they had a more talented team on the field yesterday than they had on the field vs. the Pats last year in the divisional playoffs. Marty choked; Norv delivered. That's all that there is to it. Of course, the PLAYERS ON THE FIELD won the game. They ALWAYS win the game. The coach isn't a player. However, Norv gets credit for a good game plan and no brain farts. No, the Chargers would NOT be going to NE if Marty was still here. He's lost his last six playoff games, and this year would have been no exception. They would have lost to the Titans with Marty, so you're full of crap. Marty's liked. Yeah, by idiots who think that the regular season is more important than the playoffs. 11-5 is better than 14-2 if 11-5 the former wins in the postseason while the latter chokes. As for your last paragraph, you don't have to like Norv, but there's no chance of him getting fired after this season. Forget about Cowher. Cowher will probably stay in the broadcast booth anyway.

Typical Chargers move.

Bobby Ross takes the Chargers to the Super Bowl - Fire him.

Marty gets them to 14-2 - the stadium is sold out for an entire season - first time in history. Fire him too.

Hire another weasel coach. Norv Turner. Norv inherits Marty's team which has been augmented with even more talent and gets all the credit for it after they get to where they should be.

Must be feeling pretty snazzy right now, huh, Norv?

You've always been a loser everywhere else. Wow, way to gooooo Norv!

Better add a new product to your inventory of just T-Shirts.

Norv Turner dart board set.

Added bonus: With HIS face, all of the dart marks will never show and actually enhance the appearance of the dartboard, which will have a natual looking patina as it ages. Also, each dart hit will make the face of the board look more and more realistic and lifelike.

Additional product could be a large can of tan spackle for that T.V. appearance look - just for a change up.

Have to think about the spackle thing, as don't want to have the darts get permantly stuck in the goo.

It's a technical issue.

Maybe we just leave it as ugly as hell, which is natural.

I might just start this up myself, rather than add to Dave's product line.

Should have it ready by the 20th with expedited shipping.

Real world charger fan said...

Let's see Norv fan who is still ranting about how great Norv did yesterday. Can you say Michael Turner. Who gets $2 Million per year to stay. Who would be a starter, not a back up on any other team. Huh? How about Vincent Jackson coming through? And Rivers was playing like he did LAST year. And Gates did play and made an impact. And the D showed up and made an impact. And Cromartie. Knocked out Marvin Harrison, a big factor. He got screwed out his INT, though. And Jammer was puttin' it on them. Just maybe Indy thought we would just suck also. So, you want Norv to get all the credit. Who are you? Norv or Mrs. Norv? Or just gay for Norv?

Gimme a break before I just throw up in my mouth.

And if special teams lets NE get any yardage like yesterday, we are done. They are going to knock the crap out of us. And the secondary cannot allow those passes down the field. No, I do NOT want NE to win. Just facing reality. Bilicheck will have them READY. And they GO for 4th and short yardage. They always go for a TD. Chargers - no. Not unless they have less than 2 minutes as good ol' Norv cannot manage the clock. Another important factor in big games.

Oh yeah, Tennessee, are you for REAL? They were totally banged up and not expected to win, DORK-ASS. Vince Young barely able to go and his QB rating is only in the 60's anyway. Still, they did better than expected. We beat them the first time. Hard to believe. Remember though we lost to lowly 4-12 KC.

Do you think we can have 12 men on the field or 10 men on the field etc. etc., in NE and just magically win there?

We overcame our mistakes in Indy mostly because Cromartie knocked Harrison out of that game. Don't plan on a repeat of that next time. NE has Moss, Brady and Rodney and a whole slew of excellent players and a coach who is arguably the best coach in the NFL.

I'll just bet they are so jealous that we have Norv Turner and they don't.

Anonymous said...

Norv's best new pal, you neglected to mention that the Chargers lost their first playoff game after going 14-2, dickhead. They didn't win a single playoff game under Marty, so fuck him. You refuse to give any credit to Norv because he has talented players (as if a head coach should be expected to lead untalented players to postseason victory), yet you ignore the fact that Marty FAILED to lead talented players to postseason victory. Norv's done a good job this year. He'll be back next season. Tough shit.

Anonymous said...

real, your first paragraph makes no sense. How's a team going to win if none of the players make big plays? You seem to think that a good head coach can create a victory out of a vacuum with no talented players or big plays. The head coach doesn't play the game, but it's silly to give him zero credit when they win. Why have a head coach otherwise? The Chargers had an incredibly talented team last year too, yet they choked. They would have choked against the Titans with Marty, just like they choked against the Jets in 2004 and Pats in 2006. Marty's a born loser. So what if they lost to 4-12 KC? At least the team didn't fold after that loss. As far as Harrison goes, he wouldn't have been much of a factor anyway. He obviously wasn't ready. Finally, I agree that the Chargers don't have much of a chance on Sunday. Therefore, you can't blame Norv if they lose. BTW, I've never said that Norv is a better HC than Belichick. Comparing Marty to Belichick is kind of silly though. Belichick isn't a choker.

Thought it was FireNorv said...

Well, well, well, is this FireNorv or not?

Or is it I am gay for Norv?

Please make up your mind, if you have one.

And why can't we have a coach as good as Belichek? Huh?

Cuz Chargers and their fans don't ever get/deserve anything that GOOD, right? And after getting this good, it's time to take the team away, anyways.

We have to suffer.

Last year, we did not have Weddle, Cromartie, Chambers, and Sproles was out. We've needed somebody like Cromartie for a long time. He makes the whole defense step up. Also, look at Cooper. And, when 95 is injured, we don't win.

If I give you a dollar, will you go out to the clue tree and buy one?

If not, go and f**k yourself 'cuz you guys are too thick to understand anything else. That butt plug might have to be removed.

I just want a winning team for a long time, man.

Are you actually insinuating that Marty is in Belichick's league? If that's so, then you're the one on crack, pal. Marty has NEVER coached a team to the Super Bowl, despite coaching worthy teams. Belichick has won three Super Bowls. Case closed. It was a missed FG in what game? The New England game? That was a long FG. You can't blame everything on the kicker. However, you CAN blame Marty for going on 4th and 11 instead of kicking a FG early in that game or wasting a timeout with a stupid challenge. Face it; Marty's a fucking idiot. Norv has yet to have a brain fart in the playoffs this year. You suppose I think that Norv is in whose league? Please try making sense, douchebag. Moronic post by the last guy. There may be a fine line between winning and losing, but it still makes all the difference. Marty lost; Norv won. I'm sorry, dude, but only a moron would want Norv fired now after he just led them to the AFC Championship game. You're not going to get your wish. You lose. BTW, you don't speak for all "die hard" Charger fans. Most Charger fans are pleased that their team has been winning lately. Norv's challenge wasn't dumb; it was a close play. The Colts scored a TD on the play, so of course you challenge it, idiot. Twelve men on the field? That's the fault of the twelfth idiot who went on the field. You honestly can't blame Norv for every penalty in the game. You're fucking desperate, lol. No, YOU get over it. They're winning with Norv; he's not going to be canned after this season. The challenge wasn't dumb. Dierdorf had the benefit of looking at the replay a dozen times. The Colts scored a TD on the play, so you might as well challenge. Contrarily, it was DUMB for Belichick to not challenge Jacksonville's TD on Saturday when it was clear that Garrard's knee was, in fact, down before he let go of the ball. Sure, the Patriots easily won the game anyway, but you challenge if it's that close on a TD play in the postseason.
